Project Objectives

Strengthen the productive capacities of the agricultural sector of the District of Kilolo providing technical training about agriculture and sustainable farming to small farmers, facilitating their access to agricultural inputs and mechanization and guiding them towards a more market-oriented agriculture

The agricultural production of Tanzanians farmers is limited by several factors: the difficulty of access to agricultural inputs, lack of expertise and technical assistance and the lack of mechanization. To try to overcome these obstacles we focused on building higher levels of cooperation and collaboration between farmers to ensure a tangible increase in food security and livelihoods of families. For these reasons, training and agricultural cooperativism have been the two cornerstones of the action, aimed at promoting sustainable development of the agricultural sector in the district, with particular attention to the issue of environmental protection. Integrated management of land, fight against deforestation and conservative agriculture are all part of the approach that will be adopted during the implementation of the action. In the district of Kilolo the project aims to create an association of farmers that will involve at least 200 farmers. 5 warehouses will be built and 1 central association and 2 of them will be rehabilitated in order to provide villages storage centers. The headquarters of the Association was built in Kilolo along with the central warehouse. Training, facilitation in the use of services and agricultural goods, the cooperativism and the mechanization will support the two districts increasing the food surplus and the ability to trade the products of farmers
