Power to the people – Cooperatives and energy

Cooperative and community energy has the potential to play a role in addressing the urgent challenges of energy security and fuel poverty. It also brings a wealth of additional benefits and empower communities to own, control and benefit from their own renewable energy and energy efficiency schemes.

Cooperative enterprises put forward a decentralized energy system as a better solution for today’s energy challenges. To bring this discussion further, Cooperatives Europe, The Co-operative Group and Rescoop.EU will host a series of events to look at the idea of bringing power to the people.

These events are part of Co-operatives United, the culminating event of the International Year of Cooperatives, taking place il Manchester from 29th October to 2nd November 2012. Access to the events is free of charge. Participants only need to have the Co-operatives United free access pass.
