Project Officer in cooperative development, training and education

Cooperative enterprises enable people around the world to become protagonists of their own social and economic development. The ICA-EU partnership programme ‘Cooperatives in Development – People-centred businesses in action’  (or #coops4dev) will work on promoting the cooperative business model in global, regional and local development policies, and strengthening cooperative organisations as viable actors in development processes in their own rights. This programme runs from March 2016 to August 2020. 

We are currently looking for a Project Officer in cooperative development, training and education to join our team. 

The Project Officer will be in charge of coordinating and monitoring the implementation of an educational project at international level. S/he will work as a member of the ICA-EU partnership team and report directly to the International Development Director.

The main role of the Project Officer is to coordinate the upscaling and expansion of an ongoing European initiative. S/he will support the European Project Coordinator in engaging international beneficiaries and stakeholders throughout the activities.

Key responsibilities are: 

  •  Support the development of an online platform for international cooperative development tools
  •  Implement and monitor international capacity building activities for cooperative mentors
  • Coordinate with the European Project Coordinator: ensuring consistent development of international activities, and co-organisation of coordination and education events (transnational meetings and training sessions).  
  • Promote education and training programs and activities towards members of the International Cooperative Alliance and beyond, and ensuring web visibility (website, newsletter and social medias).

Person specifications

Essential

  • University degree in European studies, project management, political sciences, international development or similar;
  • Knowledge of and relevant experience with training and education projects, preferably involving the development and testing of an IT solution
  • Very good command of English
  • Knowledge of other languages, particularly French and Spanish
  • Attentive to details and able to prioritize work 
  • Good IT and communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team 
  • Demonstrate commitment to the cooperative values and principles 

Desirable

  • Good understanding of the EU and its institutions
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience of work with NGOs or membership organisations
