Cooperatives Europe, together with Business Europe, European Small Business Alliance, Eurochambers, Eurocommerce, European Familiy Business and UEAPME have addressed a letter to Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission calling on the Commission to propose an initiative in 2015 dealing with the revision and the strengthening of the Small Business Act.
On 19-20 March Cooperatives Europe attended the latest Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SME) envoy’s meeting in Paris. The event was hosted by the French Ministry for Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs. All Member States, the EU Commission and representatives from intersectoral business organisations were among the participants.
On 11th December the Conference of the Presidents of the European Parliament approved the re-establishment of the Social Economy Intergroup. This decision follows the support shown by more than 80 MEPs from 6 different political groups.
In 2010 the EU launched the Europe 2020 strategy for promoting smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. After four years a review process has been launched in order to design the strategy for the coming years.
From 1st to 3rd October, Cooperatives Europe participated in the 2014 SME Assembly on ‘Growth Through Enterprise: Exploiting the Opportunities ahead’ and the SME envoy follow-up meeting in Naples. This three-day event is the main focus of the European SME week.
