    Cooperatives Europe releases today its brochure on CSR - Co–operative Social Responsibility. The document provides insights on how Corporate Social Responsibility is not new to co-operatives: as co-operatives have always behaved in a social responsible way. It is in their DNA.

    Being socially responsible is not just a nice label for co-operative businesses, it is fundamental to the co-operative culture. That’s why co-operatives call it Co-operative Social Responsibility. The brochure gives concrete examples on how co-operatives:

    On January, 12 co-operatives and co-operative organisations across Europe and the world celebrated the start of the International Year of Co-operatives.

    Cooperatives Europe, together with the European organisations representing co-operative sectors held a major press conference at the presence of Ms Pervenche Berès, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee, and Mr Luis Manuel Capoulas Santos, Member of the European Parliament.

  • Last 25 October the European Commission published a communication on Social Business Initiative: “Creating a favourable climate for social enterprises, key stakeholders in the social economy and innovation”. This initiative is part of a package of proposals for more responsible businesses, which follows up on the Single Market Act.
