    The European organizations representing co-operatives at EU level* kick off the United Nations’ International Year of Co-operatives today with the launch of their 2012 political agenda, ‘Co-operatives for Europe – Moving Forward Together’.

    On January, 12 co-operatives and co-operative organisations across Europe and the world celebrated the start of the International Year of Co-operatives.

    Cooperatives Europe, together with the European organisations representing co-operative sectors held a major press conference at the presence of Ms Pervenche Berès, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee, and Mr Luis Manuel Capoulas Santos, Member of the European Parliament.

  • Brussels, 1 February 2011 (for immediate release) – The Environment Committee of the European Parliament, chaired by Jo Leinen MEP, and representatives of the five major political groups in the EP joined today with Europe’s main associations representing small and medium-sized companies (UEAPME), consumers’ interests (BEUC), cooperatives (Cooperatives Europe) and the Foundation on Economic Trends in a call for a “Third Industrial Revolution” ahead of the European Council’s summit devoted to energy.
