YECN Selected as Key Partner for EU Youth Test at the European Economic and Social Committee

Brussels, 25 October 2024 – The Young European Cooperators Network (YECN) has been officially selected to participate in the EU Youth Test at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). This marks a significant milestone for the movement of young cooperators in Europe, as it brings their voices directly into the heart of EU policymaking.

The EU Youth Test is an initiative aimed at integrating youth perspectives into the policy development process of the European Union. By participating, the YECN will collaborate with EU policymakers and other youth organisations to provide essential input on decisions that affect young people. This initiative underscores the EESC’s commitment to including youth in the legislative process and ensuring future laws consider the interests of Europe’s younger generations.

The YECN’s role in this initiative will reinforce its ongoing mission to ensure youth representation in EU policymaking. It provides young cooperators with a platform to contribute directly to discussions on issues such as education, employment, and more. In addition to amplifying young voices, this participation fosters collaboration between youth representatives and key EU institutions. As a partner in the EU Youth Test, the YECN will work alongside other youth networks, contributing to consultations and participating in impact assessments. This collaboration will help shape policies that foster a more youth-inclusive and cooperative European Union.

Cooperatives Europe supports this process and the development of the YECN.
