Bi-Regional Report on Cooperative Care Economy in Europe and the Americas

Cooperatives Europe and Cooperatives of the Americas are proud to release a bi-regional report highlighting key lessons, best practices and recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to support a people-centered care economy.

The report builds on the dialogues from “Caring Cooperatively: Euro-American Dialogues on a People-Led Care Economy” webinar series, held during the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.

The report:

  • Provides key lessons from the dialogues: Expanding on insights from the Euro-American webinars, the report highlights how cooperatives address shared challenges in care and housing through innovative solutions, and their relevance for shaping international and regional programming.
  • Showcases cooperative initiatives and best practices across sectors: It presents examples from Europe and the Americas, exploring the role of cooperatives as multi-stakeholder, community-based actors and essential partners in delivering inclusive, just, and gender-responsive care, together with housing solutions.
  • Provides actionable recommendations: It offers key next steps for policymakers and stakeholders within and beyond the cooperative network to support caregivers, advance Euro-American dialogues and improve the recognition of cooperatives in shaping housing and care policy frameworks at national, regional and global levels.
